This eldercare facility, built on a reserve in Northern Ontario, includes a mix of care service facilities and live in units.
We worked closely with the developer to create this uniquely shaped building that would be able to be expanded for future phases. This meant we had to design for the roof to be a potential floor in the future.
We incorporated Composite TotalJoist for the flooring system and TotalJoist for the roof to lighten up the structure where it would permanently be a roof. We mixed in a proprietary steel SIP panel for walls to provide superior insulation properties in their harsh weather environment.
Our system was transported on ice roads to get to the remote location so we had to be very conscious of adhering to schedules so that we did not miss the window of opportunity to transport goods.
